Remembering your Birthday (2)

Hello!

I couldn't help but share my second Bokeh attempt too! This one was also inspired by the lovely Gold Soiree DSP (1336970) - this time The Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Pistachio Green! I used the same stencil that I created for my previous post. And again I used my Sponge Dauber (133773) for my smallest and darkest circles. My lightest colour was Pink Pirouette (126956), then Crisp Canteloupe (131176) and for my darkest and smallest circle I used Calypso Coral (126983). To add a touch of sparkle I also used Versamark ink (102283) to heat emboss Iridescent Ice (101930) circles over my coloured circles. I think it came out pretty well!

My complete product list:

124392 Calypso Coral A4 Cardstock (Base)
131303 Crisp Cantaloupe A4 Cardstock (Layering)
106549 Whisper White A4 Cardstock (Stamping)

132141 Metallic Gold Encore Ink
109129 Gold Embossing Powder

Remembering your Birthday

Hello again!

My projects for this week was inspired by the beautiful Gold Soiree DSP (133697) - Garden Green and Calypso Coral were the colours I used from this amazingly beautiful paper! The effect I was aiming for.... Bokeh which refers to the quality of the blurring of out-of-focus images in a photograph. I watched a few videos on You Tube and was inspired by this easy technique from Wplus9 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghp6-Ga4wIA and this is my take on it!  I made a stencil from a Window Sheet (114323) using various circles - 3 different sizes - from the Circles Framelits Collection (130911). I also used a Sponge Dauber (133773) for my smallest circle!

Let's start at the beginning:
I sponged Calypso Coral (126983) and Garden Green (126973) randomly on some watercolour   paper  and then, using my Stampin' Spritzer (126185),  I activated the ink by spraying it with water. You can wait for it to dry, but I'm not patient enough, so I heat set it.

Now you can start sponging with Craft Stampin' ink (101731) over your stencil with a sponge dauber (or sponge). The best way to go about it is to sponge your biggest circle with a very light hand and going darker with your Craft ink as your circles get smaller. My smallest circle was create with my sponge dauber.  Overlap your circles - I find that working in a triangles of circles works nicely. Concentrate your smallest and brightest circles around your image.

A list of the products I used on my finished project:

108605 Garden Green A4 Cardstock (Base)
131299 Oistachio Pudding A4 Cardstock (Layering)
106549 Whisper White A4 Cardstock (Stamping)
131177 Pistachio Pudding Classic Stampin'pad
132141 Metallic Encore Gold ink pad
102283 Versamark ink
109129 Gold Embossing powder
131350 Remembering your Birthday Clear stamp set
132058 Papillon Potpourri Wood stamp set
134036 I Love Lace Clear Background stamp
127003 Apothecary Accents Framelits
127526  Elegant Butterfly

This was truly a fun project and as you can see you don''t need much more to complete your card!

Bright & Beautiful Tag

Hello again!

After a breathtakingly beautiful road trip down South (of Western Australia), I am back with a Festive tag...  And an easy (not so new) technique. For this tag I used the Bright & Beautiful stamp set (135029 Clear) from the Holiday catalogue (p 25) and the coordinating Star Framelits (133723) from the Inspire. Create. Share catalogue (p 231). The Technique is a Embossing resist technique - very easy and with instant impact. I heat embossed the medium-sized star from the set with Clear Embossing powder (109130) and then used a Sponge Dauber (133773) to sponge my darker colour in the centre of the star (use circular movements) - I used Wisteria Wonder Classic Stampin' Pad (126985) - and the Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad (131179) for the outside of the star. Then I sandwiched my image between White printer paper and dry-ironed over the image with the iron on its highest setting. This removes the embossing powder and leaves a watercolour type of effect. Pretty! Any detailed stamp will work beautifully. Think background stamps!

The rest of my product list:

131002 Wisteria Wonder A4 Cardstock
108615 Perfect Plum A4 Cardstock
106549 Whisper White A4 Cardstock
102283 Versamark Ink pad (the watermark image on the one star)
109131 Silver Embossing powder (for the JOY sentiment in the centre)
134572 Wisteria Wonder Seam Binding Ribbon
132976 Silver Metallic Baker's Twine

Try this! The possibilities are endless! Also do yourself a favour and have look at all the lovely Seam Binding Ribbon colours on page 207 of Inspire. Create. Share. I looooove Early Espresso (134582) and Night of Navy (134571)!

Remembering your Birthday

Hello there!

This project features a technique called 'Old Linen'. I found it in a card making magazine a while back but unfortunately cannot remember the card maker's name. I apologise for this and if I'm ever that lucky that she should stumble upon my card online - thank you for teaching me this! And let me know so I can give well deserved credit!

The technique works best with white card stock with a shiny layer(film) on top. I used the sturdy cardstock that comes with Stampin'Up!'s Designer series paper 12 x 12 packs. These work perfectly and  is just one more reason for it not to go to waste!

Technique:
Use a finer grade sanding block to remove some of the film on top of the cardstock.Your cardstock must be on a flat surface.  Sand up and down and left to right, dust and repeat. The perfect Óld Linen"colour from Stampin'Up! would be Sahara Sand 126976. Drag the ink pad from top to bottom and from left to right over your cardstock. Sand, dust and ink again until you are satisfied with the results. Finally dust one last time before stamping your images over this. I used the I Love Lace background stamp C (134036) in the Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' Pad.

All The flowers were heat embossed with Stampin'Up!'s Clear Embossing powder (109130) - first inked with Versamark (102283) and then inked with the ink colour of your flower and then filled with a  Sponge Dauber (133773) using the same ink colour.

Gift Box Punch Board - Festival of Trees Pop - Out Box!

Better late than never! I used Stampin'Up!'s  fantastic NEW Gift Box Punch Board to make this pretty box. The directions are on the board, so no need to look it up! I used the directions to make the smallest box, cut off the 4 triangles (that would be used to close the box) and made a lid from a 4" x 4" square cardstock, scored at 1"on all sides, cut the fold in tabs on all 4 corners and adhered with Sticky Strip. The inside of the box was decorated  with the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp set (135059). This box is perfect for a piece of jewelry! Or a party favour!
